The Association or Ascension Party
LAUNCHING IN 2026………………
Join me as I jump into a little bit of fiction and a whole lot of fact, the follow-up to Member 23 The Height of Hope, this time Sophie finds herself at a dinner party but what does this really symbolise? How dangerous could individual thinking whilst sipping tea be, are adventurous thoughts advantageous or adverse? Is the mascaraed hiding macabre mediocracy or does Sophie swap peanuts for perceptiveness, the stakes are high and knives are out to keep a seat at this table!
book Synopsis
With each chapter we “dine” heavily into Social Identity Theory and The Dramaturgical Perspective. Sophie realizes that every guest is performing a curated version of themselves to maintain their “seat at the table.” The air is thick with the “masquerade of mediocrity”—a soul-crushing pressure to conform to the group’s status quo, dumb it down, amp it up, she wonders why she just can’t be….
As the tea is poured, the conversation becomes a weapon. To challenge the host’s dogma is to risk social (and perhaps literal) extinction; on a knife’s edge of descending into chaos. Sophie must decide: does she drink the cordial and blend into the macabre dullness, or does she swap the “peanuts” of polite small talk for the “perceptiveness” delights!
The tension isn’t found in a ticking bomb, but in the cognitive dissonance of the guests. Sophie begins to spot the cracks in the porcelain. The terrifying realisation that the host is not that proclaimed culinary geniuses, but a minion of meekness. One wrong word, one lapse in “proper” thought, and the invitation is revoked—and in this circle, being “uninvited” has more than one consequence…….
Sophie must navigate the razor-thin line between authenticity and survival. Can she deconstruct the masquerade from the inside out without losing her own identity? In a room where everyone is “associating” for status, Sophie’s “ascent” depends on her ability to see the table for what it truly is: a cage? A catalyst? She must navigate the high stakes table well! Does she ascend or just associate?
Not just a story but nestled with phycology and science. A fiction and fact fusion with correlating abstract art to drive your postulation’s wild! You’ll be questioning how you drink your cordial!!!!
“The danger of adventurous thinking isn’t just the thought itself—it’s the audience that hears it.”
